The Espai Cr\u00e0ter programs Volcanology Month<\/a>, a set of activities that aims to highlight the volcanic landscape of La Garrotxa and promote knowledge about volcanic phenomena, their geological importance and their impact on our planet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this fourth edition, the center extends the program to the whole month in order to accommodate the knowledge of the exhibition, workshops for all ages, conferences given by experts in the field of volcanology and field trips to the most volcanoes emblematic of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019altipl\u00e0 de Batet i els seus volcans<\/a>, an essential activity\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Walking the volcanic field of La Garrotxa accompanied by leading people in the field of volcanology is one of the activities most acclaimed by the public. In the three previous editions, the walk with volcanologists sold out places with a waiting list, which is why it could not be missing from this year’s program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This activity will be directed by the geologist Isaac Camps, who proposes an interpretive itinerary of the volcanism of the basaltic plateau of Batet that will pass by the main volcanoes in the area, Pujal\u00f3s, Garroj\u00e0s, Puig de la Garsa and Puigsafont. It will take place on Saturday 26 October at 2\/4 of 10 in the morning and will start in Can Frontana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the route, stops will be made at the main points of interest to explain how these volcanoes were formed, how their eruptions were and other curiosities. Although the walk is free, the number of places is limited and for this reason, prior booking through the web is essential. Registrations have already opened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the occasion of the 4th Month of Volcanology, the commented visit to CR\u00c0TER 360 will be carried out by Onionlab<\/a>, the audiovisual production company of the cube, and the project’s scientific advisors, Xavier de Bol\u00f3s and Adelina Geyer, from the team of Vulcanologia Aplicada del Geoci\u00e8ncies Barcelona del CSIC<\/a>. This proposal will allow attendees to delve into the sensory experience of a journey through four inaccessible volcanoes and learn all the details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do native peoples live with volcanoes?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last outstanding activity of the program is the conference<\/a> that will be offered by Xavier de Bol\u00f3s, doctor in geology, in which it will be considered how the original peoples have lived with active volcanoes and have integrated them into their culture and worldview for millennia. It will be on Friday, October 18, at 7 p.m., in the Magma Room of Espai Cr\u00e0ter. The conference is also part of the cycle Els grans interrogants de la ci\u00e8ncia<\/a>. Apart from these proposals, Volcanology Month also includes guided visits to the Crater Space and two family workshops on science: “Volc\u00e0niclab” and “Alerta, STEM en risk?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
