This October marks the 5th Volcanology Month! Under the theme “Living Among Volcanoes,” Espai Cràter is once again offering a program of activities to highlight the volcanic landscape of La Garrotxa and promote knowledge about volcanic phenomena, their geological importance, and their impact on our planet.
Throughout the month, Espai Cràter will host around fifteen educational and outreach activities dedicated to volcanology: expert lectures, an escape room, field trips, guided tours, and family workshops.
Coinciding with the 5th Volcanology Month, the first edition of the International Volcanology Course Olot (La Garrotxa) – La Palma will take place, aiming to provide comprehensive training in volcanology through a combination of theory, practice, and fieldwork. Over the course of two intensive weeks, participants will gain essential knowledge about magmatic and volcanic processes, as well as current research methods.
Since 2021, Espai Cràter has organized a series of activities every October to showcase the volcanic landscape of La Garrotxa and promote scientific outreach. What began as “Volcanology Week” became “Volcanology Month” in 2024, expanding the program.
