The Exhibition
Learning about Volcanoes from the inside of a Volcano
You will find a benchmark exhibition in the field of volcanology in terms of both content and form at Espai Cràter. This fully interactive exhibition has been curated by Dr. Joan Martí Molist, the Director of Geosciences Barcelona – CSIC, and developed by the design company Indissoluble.
The exhibition is divided into several areas, and it covers the volcanoes of La Garrotxa and the world, as well as the unique relationship that exists between volcanoes and their environment using various exhibition languages: audiovisual displays, immersive experiences, photographs, virtual reality and video mapping. It also features a 15 m2 model that explains the geological formation of La Garrotxa, in addition to gaming experiences and many other surprises.
The exhibition also has a large lapilli wall that allows visitors to view the very entrails of the Puig del Roser volcano, which is the home of the centre itself. Espai Cràter is the only place where you can learn about volcanoes from inside a volcano.
Visits to the exhibition are available over a wide range of times, from Monday to Sunday. Guided tours are offered regularly on weekends, and monthly family workshops are also part of the programme.
